St. Clair County holds inmates at one main facility. The Intervention and Detention Center opened in 2006 as a correctional campus of more than 200,000 square feet. It sits on Michigan Road in Port Huron and also houses the county Central Dispatch Center. Booking and Classification in St. Clair County
After an arrest, a person is brought to the jail and booked into custody. Booking creates the record that feeds the roster. Every inmate held longer than 72 hours is classified and assigned to general population, apart from rare extraordinary conditions. Mail Rules for St. Clair County Inmates
Mail is one of the simplest ways to reach an inmate, but the rules are strict. All incoming mail is opened and inspected or read for contraband and rule violations. Anything that breaks a rule is destroyed and not returned. Pictures are the only enclosures allowed. Each inmate may receive up to 10 photographs per package, printed on photo paper.
