Michigan gives the public broad access to court records. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. The St. Clair County Clerk keeps 31st Circuit Court case files and vital records. The 72nd District Court handles traffic, misdemeanors, small claims, and landlord-tenant matters. The Probate Court manages estates, guardianships, and conservatorships. The Sheriff runs the jail roster, and the Michigan State Police and Secretary of State hold statewide criminal and driver records.
